What is Quick Disconnect function?

Call Center headsets made with two separated parts, the headpiece and the bottom cord connects the headset to a telephone or a computer. There is a 4 pin flat connector that connects these two parts together. The connector is at the middle of the headset cord, in front of the headset user. So headset user may hold the two sides of the connector pull straightly to disconnect them quick and easily.

Quick Disconnect function give you Convenience while using the headset

With the Quick Disconnect function, headset user may quickly separate the headset from the bottom cord and step away. When the headset disconnected from the bottom cord, there will be no audio on the headset. However, the phone call will not be disconnected. Since there is not audio on the headset, the other side of phone line will not hear anything, just like the headset user pressed the mute button. It just like pressed the mute button, the other side of the call will not hear anything. User may come back and plug it back and continue the phone conversation. With the Quick Disconnect function, headset user doesn’t need to reach out to the back of the phone to disconnect the headset.

Quick Disconnect function makes your headset more useful

Because the bottom cord can be separated from the headset, user may replace a different bottom cord to use the same headset with different devices. For instance, you have different Cisco phone models in the office. One is CP-8851, one is SPA525G. The CP-8851 has a RJ9 headset jack and the SPA525G has a 2.5mm headset jack. You may use the same headset connect to a RJ9 Quick Disconnect cord model QD-CUF with the CP-8851; and a 2.5mm Quick Disconnect cord model QD-SPA with the SPA525G. You may also connect the headset with an USB Quick Disconnect cord, model QD –USB to use the headset with your computer.

Choose right headset for your Mitel phone

Some customers complain that the headset they receive are defective or do not work with their phone. Why? Because some Mitel phones need to program a headset key in order to use a headset with it; some Mitel phones need to activate the headset function; and some Mitel phones need to set audio path for headset.

How to install or setup a headset on your phone

Mitel have many different phone models. Take a look on your Mitel phone keypad. If there is a dedicated headset key, you don’t need to do anything. Just connect the headset to the headset jack at the back of the phone. Press the headset key to use the headset.

How about there is a key with headset and speaker icon together? In this case, you may need to activate the headset function or set the audio path.

Can’t find headset icon on any key? You may need to program a headset key or, activate the headset function then use the speaker key as the headset key (Mitel 5220, 5320e, 5330e & 5340e).

How to use headset with your Mitel phone

Press the Headset / Speaker key Mitel phone headset icon (depend on the Mitel phone model), you’ll get dial tone. And the phone audio is on the headset connected. After press the headset / speaker key, you may dial a call; hit the transfer key to transfer a call; push the mute key to mute the headset microphone; press message key to hear message; tap volume keys to adjust headset speaker volume. Other than “Press Headset Key”, using headset with Mitel phone is no different than using hand receiver and speakerphone function.

Headset, hand receiver and speakerphone are different audio paths on Mitel phone. Switching between different audio paths is simple. While using headset, pickup the hand receiver, the hand receiver will take over the headset. While using hand receiver, press the headset key you hear audio from the headset speaker, and then put the hand receiver on the hood.

Some Mitel phone models do not support headset and speakerphone function at the same time. After activated the headset function, the speakerphone function is inactivated (for Mitel phone model 5312, 5324).
