What is Quick Disconnect function?

Call Center headsets made with two separated parts, the headpiece and the bottom cord connects the headset to a telephone or a computer. There is a 4 pin flat connector that connects these two parts together. The connector is at the middle of the headset cord, in front of the headset user. So headset user may hold the two sides of the connector pull straightly to disconnect them quick and easily.

With the Quick Disconnect function, headset user may quickly separate the headset from the bottom cord and step away. When the headset disconnected from the bottom cord, there will be no audio on the headset. However, the phone call will not be disconnected. Since there is not audio on the headset, the other side of phone line will not hear anything, just like the headset user pressed the mute button. It just like pressed the mute button, the other side of the call will not hear anything. User may come back and plug it back and continue the phone conversation. Because the bottom cord can be separated from the headset, user may replace a different bottom cord to use the same headset with different devices. For instance, you have different Cisco phone models in the office. One is CP-8851, one is SPA525G. The CP-8851 has a RJ9 headset jack and the SPA525G has a 2.5mm headset jack.
